Crews work to repair waterline leak in La Quinta

A spokeswoman for the Coachella Valley Water District said a water service line leak was to blame for a road closure in La Quinta Tuesday.

Water began originating underneath Simon Drive near Highway 111 at about 11:30 a.m., according to Deputy Albert Martinez with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 were on scene and the leak didn’t affect traffic on Highway 111, but Simon Drive was closed from Highway 111 to Washington Street while utility crews with the Coachella Valley Water District made repairs.

Officials with the C.V.W.D. said the leak should be fixed by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

They said the waterline does serve homes and businesses in the area but no customers were affected by the leak.
