Erin Corwin’s neighbor arrested for having “destructive device”
A man who volunteered at the same horse ranch as missing Twentynine Palms woman Erin Corwin, is now facing charges unrelated to her case according to sheriff’s deputies.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that investigators searched a property on the 700 block of Geronimo Trail in Yucca Valley on the 4th of July, the same block where White Rock Horse Rescue is located.
Sheriff detectives say they found a destructive device inside, belonging to 24-year old Christopher Brandon Lee. Lee was arrested and released on July 6th after posting bail.
We’ve also confirmed that Lee finished his active duty with the 29 Palms Marine Base on July 7th. The heavily decorated rifleman was honorably discharged. It was also confirmed that he is from Alaska.
Corwin, who is also pregnant, is married to a marine stationed at the base. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department won’t release the search warrant affidavit, because it’s part of an on-going investigation.
According to KFMB in San Diego, investigators served search warrants at two apartments on base. One belonged to Corporal Lee and his wife Nichole in unit “D”. The other was at apartment “F,” where Erin lives with her husband, Jonathan Corwin. A search warrant was also served for a car with an Alaska license plate.
Erin’s family released this statement: “Our family has decided to not speak with the media at this time to ensure we don’t interfere with the investigation or the search for Erin. We believe that the detectives are working diligently to bring to light the truth about what has happened to Erin and we understand that part of this process means that we won’t have all of the information the detectives have. We are still asking for anyone with information regarding Erin’s disappearance to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.”
