Median work starting in Cathedral City may cause delays for drivers

A city contractor will begin eight weeks of median landscaping work in Cathedral City Monday.

The improvements will include drought-tolerant plants and irrigation systems, and adding concrete and decorative rock to the medians on Ramon Road between Date Palm Drive and Landau Boulevard.

Work hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, according to the city.

Drivers can expect some delays when lanes next to the medians are closed.

At least two lanes of traffic will be open, and there will be access to businesses along Ramon Road. There may be temporary closures at cross streets or left-turn lanes, according to the city.

The landscaping will match medians that were previously landscaped on Ramon between Date Palm and DaVall Drive.
