Palm Springs man arrested for parking lot shooting
A man allegedly fired a gun towards others in a Jack in the Box parking lot and was arrested as he ran from the scene, a sergeant said Sunday.
The alleged gunman was later identified as Ruben Navarro, 32, of Palm Springs. He is a convicted felon, police said, and thus was not allowed to possess any gun.
Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls at 7:41 p.m. Saturday about a man seen opening fire at another man in the 600 block of South Palm Canyon Drive.
Officers arrived, saw the suspect running away, and arrested him. Navarro allegedly had tucked a loaded handgun in his waistband, Palm Springs police Sgt. William Hutchinson said.
Police did not disclose if Navarro’s alleged victim was hit, or how many shots were fired. Navarro was booked for suspicion of assault with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a concealed firearm and other charges.
Navarro remained in custody without bail, records showed.
