CHP searches for bighorn sheep hit by car
The California Highway Patrol is searching for a bighorn sheep that was hit by a car on Highway 74 near Vista Point Monday afternoon.
The crash was reported shortly after 3 p.m.
When News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 arrived to the scene, the bighorn sheep was nowhere to be found and officers were trying to find its location.
Officials with the Bighorn Institute are assisting officers as they search near Highway 74. CHP didn’t report any injuries to the driver.
Wildlife officials said it’s important to be cautious of animals running into the roadway, especially in more rural areas.
