Town hall meeting on economy held in Indio

Business leaders are meeting in Indio Tuesday morning to develop a plan for a strong regional economy. The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership is organizing the meeting.

Business owners and other members of the business community will discuss
opportunities and threats to the local economy, and help formulate an Economic Blueprint 2.0, a follow-up to a plan created in 2009, according to CVEP spokeswoman Ellen Paris.

The 2009 Economic Blueprint identified strategies to drive economic vitality and create high-wage jobs in certain industries, including healthcare, clean energy/technology, creative arts and design, and supply chain management
and logistics. The Economic Blueprint 2.0 will address the next five years and
beyond, according to Paris.

The town hall-style meeting was scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Indio Performing Arts Center.
