Baseball player accused of rape turns himself in

The Palm Springs Power baseball player who is accused of rape turned himself in to police at the Larson Justice Center Wednesday morning, according to Dan Marshall, spokesman for the Indio Police Department.

Trent Pell, 21, was arraigned at 8:30 a.m. when he showed up to the justice center.

An arrest warrant was issued for Pell and he posted bail on the warrant in Michigan. Pell is accused of raping an unconscious woman at a party in Indio on June 16.

Police said witnesses walked in on the attack.

The Palm Springs Power removed Pell from the team for disciplinary reasons around the same time. Pell is charged with four felony counts, including sexual assault with the intent to commit rape.

He’s was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio and is being held on $200,000 bail.
