Hard Rock Hotel hires celebrity chef
The Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs is adding a new restaurant that’s scheduled to open in September, courtesy of celebrity chef Kerry Simon.
Simon Kitchen + Bar is the latest restaurant from the ‘Iron Chef’ competitor and restaurateur, who is known for his legendary eateries in Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas and abroad.
The owner of the Hard Rock Hotel, Andy Carpia, made the announcement on Thursday.
“Kerry’s reputation in the kitchen is outstanding,” Carpia said. “The menu that he has created for Simon Kitchen + Bar is amazing, and we are so fortunate to draw on his experience as the chef revered by celebrities and music legends including David Bowie, Matt Dillon, Ivana Trump, Debbie Harry and more.”
Dubbed the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Chef’ by Rolling Stone Magazine, Carpia said Kerry Simon is a natural fit for Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs.
“Palm Springs is hot right now,” said Simon. “I’m very excited to be a part of this laid-back, hipster getaway. The menu that I’ve developed for Simon Kitchen + Bar is a little edgy, a little fun, and full of contemporary takes on the comfort foods we all love.”
The menu places an emphasis on sharing. It includes social plates, sandwiches, entres and stone oven flat breads, according to the release. Social plates include tempura green beans made with pepper jelly and cream cheese, bacon jam served with baked brie and toasted baguette, and ‘Devil’s Eggs’ with crispy pancetta and caviar.
Simon Kitchen + Bar is slated to open in mid-September.
