Man recovering after being shot in Cathedral City

Police are investigating a shooting that took place in Cathedral City around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Cathedral City police were called to the 32700 block of Desert Vista Road. Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Daniel Arquieta, of Desert Hot Springs, being tended to by neighbors in the area.

They said Arquieta was shot one time in the upper body. He was treated at the scene by emergency responders and then taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where he’s expected to make a full recovery.

Witnesses said the suspect walked up to a group of people and fired his gun several times before leaving the scene on foot.

According to a release from the Cathedral City Police Department, the suspect was described as a Hispanic man who was wearing a black shirt and black shorts. There’s no more information available at this time.
