Locals react to reports of bendable iPhone 6
People who got their hands on the new Apple iPhone 6 found out something new about it. The new product reportedly bends.
Tony Ruiz of Cathedral City waited 12 hours to get the new iPhone 6 Plus. He said it was worth the wait.
“I love it and IOS8 is great its got some really cool features I like as well,” said Ruiz.
His reaction when he learned the product bends.
“It feels pretty sturdy I don’t feel like it bends,” added Ruiz.
But videos on YouTube show it. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are made from aluminum. Reports say when you sit down or stand up with the phone in your pocket, it warps.
“It kind of has me worried that it might crack or break one day while I’m sitting,” mentioned Ruiz.
Still, people stood in line Wednesday outside Apple on El Paseo. We asked shoppers if the news had them bent out of shape.
“I haven’t heard that before but I’ll definitely check it out before I buy it,” said Apple customer, Kimberly Valentine.
“I might do a little research but I’m sure I’ll come back I trust apple,” addedTom Kleine, another customer.
On Twitter, the unexpected iPhone feature has warranted the hashtag, “bendgate.” People aren’t just talking about it, they’re showing it too.
Apple says new phone sales have been higher than expected with over $10 million in sales its first weekend on shelves.
Apple has not released a statement on the issue.
