Woman hospitalized after attempted murder in Bermuda Dunes

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help as they investigate an attempted murder that ended with a man’s suicide.

According to the sheriff’s release, deputies were called to a medical emergency in the 79000 block of Camelback Drive in Bermuda Dunes on Thursday, January 1 at about 11 p.m.

When they arrived they found a 73-year-old man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also found a 72-year-old woman in the residence who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the woman was conscious but wasn’t able to speak. She was rushed to the hospital and is currently being treated for life-threatening wounds.

The coroner’s office hasn’t released the man’s identity. Police haven’t released the identity of the woman who was injured in the shooting either.

The sheriff’s department said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Thermal Station at (760) 863-8990, and refer to case # C150010047.
