Lane closure planned for Hwy 74 on Thursday

Traffic on Highway 74 may be slow-moving from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 8 as the sheriff’s department investigates a fatal traffic collision that occurred in the area earlier this week.

According to a release from David Hermann with the City of Palm Desert, the sheriff’s department will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction roughly one half mile north and south of Mesa View Drive.

Access to Mesa View Drive will be restricted and significant delays are expected. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area during the closure if possible.

They expect the investigation to be wrapped up by 2 p.m.
