Volunteers continue to search the valley for missing LA man

Volunteers from Los Angeles, San Diego, and right here in the Coachella valley came together in a Ralphs parking lot in Palm Desert on Country Club Drive to organize a search party for 33-year-old Omar Meza.

The Ralphs is just across the street from the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Hotel which is the last place anyone saw Meza before he went missing the evening of January 8th.

“The plan of attack is to zone out a grid and get people on foot, door-to-door, business to business, post fliers, talk to people, ask if they have seen his face, and just get as much information as we can,” says friend of the Meza family Kelsey Botero.

“It feels good that we are out here for a good cause which is finding Omar. I know his family really wants him back home and so does everyone else and I am more than overwhelmed about the support from the public,” says friend of the family Eddie Petil.

“Omar’s the best, he’s one of those people who always wants to help other people, he’s always willing to lend a helping hand, and he didn’t even know me when he helped me get a job right out of college,” says Marissa Liu who works with Meza at AIG in Los Angeles.

“He’s not a partier, he’s out here for a business meeting very responsible guy so it just seems out of character it’s not someone who would go out on a bender,” say Nick Hogan.

Divers with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department continued searching ponds on the golf course of the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort. This is the third day of divers searching ponds on the resort.

Volunteers will meet again Thursday, Jan 15, at 9 a.m. in the Ralph’s Parking lot on the corner of Country Club Dr. and Cook St. to continue the search. If you would like to volunteer, all the information is available on this website.
