2 men busted by Border Patrol with over $1M in cocaine

Two men were busted by Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint Friday afternoon when 79 lbs. of cocaine was discovered in their commercial utility truck.

Agents said the men, both Mexican citizens, were stopped at about 2:45 p.m.

After a canine detection team alerted agents to the truck, a secondary inspection revealed 33 packages of cocaine concealed in a non-factory compartment located behind the cab of the truck, according to the release.

The cocaine weighed about 79 lbs. and is worth an estimated street value of over $1,027,000, agents said. The two men, the vehicle and the narcotics were turned over to the D.E.A. for processing.
