City of La Quinta seeks input on police services
The city of La Quinta is reaching out to its residents to hear opinions regarding policing services in the community. They’ve produced an online survey to collect the results.
The city is prepared to receive thousands of responses to a survey that asks whether you agree or disagree on questions like:
The La Quinta Police Department does a good job anticipating and responding to service needs
Crime prevention programs in La Quinta are effective
I feel safe in my daily activities in the City
According to officials, the city recently hired Matrix Consulting Group to conduct a study of the La Quinta Police Department, which is contracted through the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, to ensure that current services rendered meet the requirements of the community.
“We have an excellent police force who is proactive and responsive.” said City Manager Frank Spevacek. “Our goal is to review the city’s services and determine how best to deliver services into the future.”
Chief of Police Andrew Shouse said “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is proud of the service that it has provided the citizens of the City of La Quinta over the past several decades. However, we welcome the opportunity to work with Matrix Consulting Group to get current feedback from the community and a fresh perspective from the citizens we serve.”
The survey will assist Matrix with their overall assessment of police services and will give them feedback on a variety of items plus highlight current data on crime and service levels, according to the city’s release.
“Local and state funding sources are limited and municipal governments must be smart about the way in which those resources are invested and expended,” Shouse said. “We are eager to be a part of this important public safety exercise and are confident that the City of La Quinta will remain one of the safest communities in California for decades to come.”
According to the release, Mayor Linda Evans, whose focus has always been and continues to be on public safety, stated, “I urge all residents to participate in this important survey to help our City be the best it can be.” Mayor Evans also said that she and the rest of the City Council welcome conversations on the matter.
