Firefighters battle 2-alarm fire at Indio apartment complex
Update 5:15 p.m. Cal Fire now says fire active in void spaces of six units in the apartment building. Several residents (unknown how many at this time) will be displaced and the American Red Cross will be assisting. Resources will committed several hours.
Officials with Cal Fire battled a two-alarm fire that ignited at an apartment complex in Indio Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters received the call at about 3:50 p.m.
The fire sparked on the third floor of the Andorra Apartments, located at 81-700 Ave. 46, near Alladin Street. Fire officials said the fire was burning on the north side of the apartment complex.
Some residents were evacuated from their apartments.
KESQ and CBS Local 2 arrived to the scene and spoke to some residents who said they lost all of their personal possessions in the fire. Another man we spoke to had a bandage on his arm from a cut he sustained while escaping the flames.
There haven’t been any major injuries reported at this time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and there’s no current word on the number of residents affected by the fire. Firefighters said the American Red Cross will arrive soon to assist any displaced residents.
