Two big parties bring thousands to the valley

A couple of big events are coming up this weekend here in the desert.

Stagecoach rolls into Indio, and the White Party is the main draw in Palm Springs.

With all these people in town, businesses across the valley are seeing green.

“It used to be our slowest month and now it’s our busiest month,” Shadow Hills RV Resort owner David Turner said.

Fantasy Springs Resort is almost booked up.

“It starts Thursday and it goes all weekend. But you see the cowboy hats and the RVs all around town, not just on property but you see them at the gas stations, the grocery stores. Everyone stocking up for supplies and getting ready,” Fantasy Springs PR manager Bradley Ryan said.

Over at the Shadow Hills RV Resort, it’s the same story.

“Actually we’re sold out. We’ve been sold out since February,” Turner said.

Stagecoach doesn’t officially start until Friday but people are already setting up and settling in.

The 26th annual Palm Springs White Party officially kicked off this afternoon.

As one of the largest gay dance music festivals in the world, this party brings visitors from all over the globe to our valley.

“It brings members of the gay community from all over the world. So you get to meet people that you wouldn’t otherwise get to socialize with or get a chance to meet in any other scenario,” said Kyle Malone, who is visiting from London.

Founder Jeffrey Sanker said these big weekends are what make Palm Springs a thriving community.

“Every restaurant, every store, everything is busy. People are out shopping, they’re out eating, they’re staying in all the hotels and it’s really centered in Palm Springs,” Sanker said.

Making it a profitable weekend for business owners and a party weekend for visitors.

You might have missed the boat when it comes to Stagecoach tickets, but tickets to the White Party are still available if you would like to attend.
