31 cases of Salmonella from tuna reported in Southern California

State public health officials say 31 Southern California residents have been diagnosed with a strain of salmonella that has been linked to the consumption of raw tuna commonly used in sushi.

A total of 53 cases have been reported in nine states. The California patients have been identified in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

Ten people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported, according to
the state.
