Sheriff’s station in Palm Desert accepts old prescription meds

People looking to get rid of unwanted or expired prescription drugs can now drop them off for free at the Palm Desert sheriff’s station.

The Prescription Medication Disposal Program will be in effect from 9 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Medical waste, including syringes, vials, tubes, transdermal patches or biological samples, will not be accepted. The program is aimed at reducing pill abuse and theft by offering a safe place to dispose of unneeded drugs.

The sheriff’s Palm Desert station is located at 73705 Gerald Ford Drive. If you have questions about the Prescription Medication Disposal Program, call deputies at (760) 836-1600.
