Patriots tee off for a cause in Rancho Mirage
Patriots putted for a cause in Rancho Mirage Sunday.
The Inaugural Desert Patriot Golf Tournament teed off at the Westin Mission Hills in hopes of raising $10,000 for Folds of Honor. The non-profit gives scholarships and academic assistance to the spouses and children of those killed or disabled serving our country.
“A lot of people do forget about the families and the kids actually connected to the service members who do go out and make the ultimate sacrifice,” said veteran and event organizer Rick Vaughn. “And especially with the larger families, it’s kind of hard to help the kids out and give them an education. Basically, Folds of Honor gives them that opportunity.”
As a thank you for their service, 30 marines from Twentynine Palms were invited to play the course for free with each competing team.
