Police nab social media underwear thief from Riverside County

Police say a California man used GPS data from Facebook and Instagram photos to break into homes and steal peoples’ underwear.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the 44-year-old Menifee man is accused of stealing underwear from women and their male roommates, as well as swiping electronics.

Fullerton Police Sg.t Kathryn Hamel says the man would hang out in public places and look for social media posts tagged to the location. She says he then chose a person, searched her posted photos and mapped GPS data to find out where she lived.

Police say they found the undergarments stored in a garage next to the man’s home.

Hamel says she’s not sure what the man’s motive was. He was caught when seen prowling through a neighborhood Saturday night.
