Celebrating final films of 27th Palm Springs International Film Festival
The 27th Palm Springs International Film Festival is coming to a close, but the festival isn’t over until the last movie is shown.
The ticket lines were long Sunday with many film lovers ending the festival on a high note.
Lane Klein of Florida and her girlfriends said they’ve been coming to Palm Springs to attend the event for years.
“Comfortable place to stay but mostly its about our friends quality of the movies the films are great it’s well organized we’ve already bought our Best of the Fest tickets,” said Klein.
Many movie goers commented on common themes this year.
“There’s been a theme of immigration and settlement and also a theme of what happens to women in various cultures,” said Marilyn Menack of New York.
Saundra Saperstein used to be the media director for Sundance Film Festival and said the PSIFF has a different vibe.
“It has a different feeling to it. Sundance is really geared toward the industry, this is more of a leisurely citizens film festival, in my opinion,” she said. “Well I love the setting. It’s beautiful, this year in particular, with the snow on the mountains.”
Rounding out the week of films is the Closing Night Party at the Renaissance Hotel in Palm Springs Sunday.
The “Best of the Fest” showings will conclude the festival on Monday.
