Riverside man pleads guilty in third child pornography crime
A 58-year-old Riverside man is facing a mandatory 10 year minimum sentence in federal prison. James Gregory O’Neil pleaded guilty Monday to possession of child pornography.
The U.S. Department of Justice said O’Neil admitted to having an SD memory card on his cell phone with nearly 100 images of child pornography.
This is his third time being convicted of possessing child pornography. In 2003 O’Neil was sentenced to 40 months in prison and convicted again in 2011.
O’Neil faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.
“Despite being convicted twice previously for possessing child pornography, Mr. O’Neill continued to victimize children by creating a market for child pornography,” said United States Attorney Eileen M. Decker. “It is one of the highest priorities of my office to prosecute those who would seek to victimize children, and in particular those who do so repeatedly.”
He’s due back in court for his sentencing on April 18.
The case against O’Neill was investigated by the Riverside Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
