President Obama will be in town for five days hosting the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage. He will meet with at least 10 leaders from several southeast Asian countries.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 spoke to authorities Thursday night, and the heightened security for the president’s visit shouldn’t impact local police response through the weekend.

The presidential motorcade left the airport at about 11:45 a.m. We’re on scene in Rancho Mirage where Secret Service agents have staged near Thunderbird Heights in Rancho Mirage.

It appears the first stop the president made was at Porcupine Creek. Elements of his motorcade were spotted at the estate of Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corporation., at about 12:30 p.m.

The president is expected to depart from the valley on Tuesday.
