Second shooting reported in same DHS block this week

Desert Hot Springs police are looking for the suspect(s) who shot at a home in the 66900 block of Cahuilla Avenue early Friday morning. Nobody was injured in the shooting.

But, this is the second time shots were fired at a home in the same block this week.

The first shooting happened Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses reported seeing several young men with guns running in various directions through yards in the area. Cabot Yerxa Elementary School, officers ordered the school locked down for the safety of the students and staff, but was lifted a short time later.

After the second shooting in the neighborhood, a witness reported seeing a light-colored SUV with tinted windows driving away after multiple shots were fired at the home.

Police haven’t said if the two shootings are related, or if it was the same home that was targeted. Officers said they are working leads and the investigation is ongoing.
