Five hurt in rollover crash in Desert Center

Five people were seriously injured in a two-car crash on the desert freeway east of Indio Sunday.

Firefighters responded to a report of a rollover crash at around 10:50 a.m. on the westbound side of the Interstate 10 approaching Eagle Mountain Road.

Four ambulances and two helicopters were rushed to the scene and when they arrived the five individuals had already been taken out of their vehicles.

Two people had major injuries and were airlifted to a hospital, while three people suffered moderate injuries, officials said.
