Suspect runs after crashing stolen car on Varner Road
The Cathedral City Police Department is searching for a suspect who crashed a stolen car on Varner Road, in between Bob Hope Drive and Date Palm Drive, Friday afternoon.
The crash was reported a little before 2 p.m.
Officers said the suspect crashed into a power pole and lines are down in the area. The suspect ran from the crash scene before police arrived. Officers are searching the area.
Westbound traffic on Varner Road was shut down at Bob Hope Drive to Date Palm Drive while authorities cleared the scene. The roadway was expected to be closed to traffic until about 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. Friday.
