Local businesses raise awareness about human trafficking

Local volunteers came together to work towards spreading awareness in the fight against human trafficking Saturday.

Members with the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force held their Anti-Human Trafficking Day of Action and Awareness.

Organizers said volunteers spent the day delivering posters to certain businesses to help prevent human trafficking, particularly in Riverside County.

“A lot of it is just community awareness, because a lot of the community isn’t aware that it’s happening in Riverside County, let alone right here in the Coachella Valley,” Kristen Dolan with Safe House of the Desert said.

Organizers said volunteers followed guidelines outlined in SB 1193, where certain businesses are supposed to display posters with the human trafficking hotline number.
