Couple arrested after 4-month-old found with multiple fractures

A Twentynine Palms couple has been arrested for willful cruelty to a child stemming from an incident that occurred on July 20.

Officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said 20-year-old Alec Daniel Bailey and 24-year-old Autumn Raven Evers were taken into custody on Tuesday, August 23 following a months-long investigation into the child’s injuries.

Both suspects are from Twentynine Palms.

On the night of the incident, sheriff’s dispatch received a call about an unresponsive 4-month-old in the 6300 block of Smoke Tree. The child was taken to the Naval Hospital where he was evaluated by Forensic Pediatricians.

According to authorities, doctors discovered the infant had multiple fractures and was suffering from extreme malnutrition. The child is currently in the care of Children and Family Services.

Bailey and Evers were responsible for the child’s care and they were booked into the Morogno Valley Jail following the investigation. They are being held on $100,000 bail for willful cruelty to a child and are scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, August 25.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call Detective Frank Hardin or Sergeant Dana Foster with Crimes Against Children.
