Woman dies after being hit by car on Highway 74

A woman who was hit by a car while crossing Highway 74 in Palm Desert has died from her injuries. It happened at about 5:10 p.m. Monday on the Northbound side of the highway near the Deep Canyon Tennis Club. Northbound lanes of the highway were closed for hours for the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a woman ran into traffic trying to cross the highway and was hit. She was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and died a short time later.
