Man arrested while wearing stolen Gucci sandals charged

A man who allegedly burglarized two Palm Springs homes and was later caught wearing a pair of Gucci slippers taken during one of the break-ins was charged today with burglary, vehicle theft and receiving stolen property.

Joshua Ramey, 28, of the San Bernardino County community of Landers, is accused of burglarizing one house twice in December and then burglarizing a second home last month.

Ramey pleaded not guilty this afternoon to three counts of burglary and one count each of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property. He’s scheduled to return to court March 24 for a felony settlement conference.

Ramey allegedly burglarized a home in the 1600 block of Calle Marcus on Dec. 19, taking several items from inside the residence, along with a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. He allegedly returned to the home three days later in the homeowner’s stolen car and took more items.

On Feb. 27, police allege Ramey burglarized a home in the 1100 block of Cactus Drive, and was captured on video surveillance footage taking items, including a pair of Gucci slippers.

Police said Ramey was wearing those same slippers Friday when he was arrested at a Palm Springs business.

Ramey has no prior felony convictions in Riverside County, but does have a 2015 assault with a deadly weapon conviction out of San Bernardino County, according to the criminal complaint.
