Planning Commission weighs in on Palm Springs vacation rentals
The vacation rental conversation continues in the city of Palm Springs. On Wednesday the Planning Commission tackled the issues of zoning and estate homes.
Palm Springs city council proposed the requirement of a land use permit, in addition to a vacation rental permit, in regards to vacation rental homes.
The proposed amendment only targeted estate homes, which are homes with five or more bedrooms on large land lots.
Council members believe an additional permit will help enforce vacation rental use. Each rental owner is allowed three violations before getting their permits revoked.
During the meeting, he continued question from majority of the planning commission was, ‘why target estate homes?’.
One member of Protect our Neighborhoods spoke at public comment and says every vacation rental should be required to obtain a commercial use permit.
At the end of the meeting, the commission voted against implementing the land use permit for estate homes.
Wednesday night at 6, we will learn more about vacation rental regulations during the city council meeting.
