Shoppers snag designs straight from the runway

From the runway, to your closet. That’s the idea behind Wednesday’s Fashion Week El Paseo trunk show.

Everything fashion lovers saw on the runway Tuesday night, they can buy at the trunk show. And the designers are there to fit the designs to the buyer. And these shoppers aren’t messing around.

“I got pretty much every sample that was in his (Chris March) runway show last night. He was practically giving it away, I don’t think he wanted to pack it in his suitcase and carry it home, so I took advantage of that,” said Dr. Deb Windham.

Windham said she loves supporting the stars of “Project Runway.” And it’s not often designers get to work directly with shoppers.

“That’s one of the most amazing feelings as a designer, the most rewarding I’ll say, because it goes from conception in your head, to the customer wearing it. That’s the best part,” said designer Char Glover.

Glover’s bright prints were a favorite among shoppers.

“I’m introducing these free and easy shirts that we’re doing off the shoulder. Each one is one of a kind, we have low and high price points. So today the price is perfect for the trunk show,” Glover said.

Designer Christopher Palu said he’s happy about the exposure.

“This collection is the starting-off point for my brand, so this is like a teaser collection,” Palu said.

And for shoppers like Windham, they’re in fashion heaven.

“I’m not afraid to wear what they create, radical fashion,” Windham said.
