Power restored to hundreds in Palm Desert

UPDATE: 9:18 p.m.

SCE crews have fully restored power to residents affected in the outage.

UPDATE: 4:19 p.m.

As of 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Southern California Edison (SCE) crews said more than 500 people were still without power.

They said power is expected to be fully restored by 6 p.m. Saturday night.

Crews said the cause of the outage was due to bad underground equipment.

Work is being done near Portola Avenue and Hovley Lane, around the Portola Country Club.

Update: 511 customers are without power as of 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

Previous Coverage: 2,420 Southern California Edison customers are without power Saturday morning.

SCE says that the outage was reported at 11:01 p.m. Friday night.

SCE has crews working to restore power to those customers. The cause of the outage is not known.

Crews estimate that power will be restored by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
