Indio teenager dies from gunshot wound

Indio Police are seeking the public’s help after a 16-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning.

Sergeant Dan Marshall of the Indio Police Department said the shooting happened around midnight on Saturday, March 25 at the Cielo Vista Apartments, located near Shadow Palm Avenue and Monroe Street.

Police found the victim in the middle of the apartment complex with residents trying to give aid to the boy. Indio Police don’t have any details about the suspect at the this time.

Officials with Desert Sands Unified School District released a statement that said: “Grief counselors will be on hand for students and staff needing assistance.”
