Man dead after crash in Twentynine Palms

A man is dead after a deadly crash in Twentynine Palms.

Morongo Basin Sheriff’s deputies said it happened just before 8 p.m. Friday night at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Mesquite Avenue.

They said they believe the man was trying to cross south on Twentynine Palms Highway at Mesquite Avenue.

Deputies said they found the man lying on the highway with severe upper and lower body injuries.

They said the man died from his injuries after being taken to High Desert Medical Center.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity.

Deputies said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the crash.
