Efforts to raise money to provide helmets for local children on anniversary of teen’s death

The 4ShayJ Foundation has events on the 1st and 4th of April that will provide helmets to underprivileged children in the Valley.

On the night of March 31st, 2015, 19-year old Shadow Hills High School senior Shaun Clark Jr., nicknamed ShayJ by his friends and family, was skateboarding with his friends in Indio. He lost control of the board and chased after it. As he was chasing after the board, he ran into the path of a Jeep, who hit him. He wasn’t wearing a helmet the night of the accident. Shaun died the morning of April 1st, 2015.

Shaun’s parents started the 4ShayJ Foundation in his honor. The foundation is dedicated to bringing awareness to the importance of helmet safety for kids. The 4ShayJ Foundation is holding two events soon that will provide helmets to local underprivileged children.

On Saturday, April 1st, the two year anniversary of Shaun’s death, the 4ShayJ Foundation will be holding the 2nd annual Pro-Tec Shootout. The events is a charity 5-man paintball tournament with raffles, free prizes, event t-shirt sales, food, drink, and a jumper for the kids. There is an entry fee of $25, 100% of the proceeds go to the 4ShayFoundation. The 2nd annual Pro-Tec Shootout will take place at the Coachella Valley Paintball Park from 8 AM to 5 PM.

On Wednesday, April 12th, the 4ShayJ Foundation will hold the 1st Annual 4ShayJ Fundraiser Dinner at Castelli’s Ristorante in Palm Desert from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. A 4-course meal with your choice of fish, chicken, beef, or pork with wine included will be served. Seats are available for $150/person.
