Police investigate 7-month-old girl’s death in Hemet

Authorities are investigating the circumstances the led up to a 7-month-old girl’s death in Hemet early Monday morning.

According to the Hemet Police Department, emergency crews were called to a residence in the 1200 block of Stepstone Court just after 8 a.m.

The infant, Addison Watkins, was unresponsive. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Authorities said Addison had no obvious signs of trauma and the Hemet Police Investigation’s Bureau is looking into the incident. Her parents had left her in the care of the resident earlier that morning. According to her parents, they have used the residence as a daycare for the past two years.

Hemet police investigators are now working with Child Protective Services to determine if there are any daycare licensing issues.

Officers said the investigation is ongoing and they won’t be releasing any other details about the case at this time.
