Athena Jreij joined KESQ News Channel 3 in October of 2024. 

Athena is a southern California native passionate about giving a voice to those who feel historically underrepresented by the media. 

She graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s in journalism and media studies. Athena began her news career in San Diego as an assignment editor at the ABC affiliate, 10News. It was there that she found her love for connecting with the community and sharing impactful stories that highlight the diverse identities and narratives of San Diego. During her time at the desk, she shed a spotlight on important community issues involving LGBTQ+ rights, the city's historic January flooding that left thousands without homes, local crime, homelessness, and more.
