McCormick’s Determined To Re-Open

PALM SPRINGS -McCormick’s Exotic Car Auctions could re-opentoday, but in a new location.

Theshowroom was destroyed in a fire that was intentionally set Friday night, and losses are pegged at half-a-million dollars.

“I was up all night planning this,” said Keith McCormick, as he plans the re-opening of his business. “We’ve got people answering phones, so we are up and running.”

Friday night flames charred the office and 6 vehicles.

“This is life’s work and to see it up in flames.

Despite all of this damage to McCormics main building, owners say they are fortunate. Just steps away from the old building, is a vacant building. The landlord is letting owners use this building until the old one is fixed up.

“We had to rip everything out that was salvageable and take it over there,” said McCormick. “We had the phone people here, they connected the phones. We had the electricity and the water people are on their way. We should be operating by Monday.”

But for the owners of these cars, it’s a different story. They still don’t know this happened

“Some of the owners are out of the country or the state. We will begin notifying them next week and then we will deal with the aftermath of that.”

For now, McCormick is just trying to rise above the ashes.

“This is one of those blows in life and you just deal with it.”
