Vista Chino Not Expected Open Until Friday
PALM SPRINGS -Clean-up crews are still working to clear off one of the desert’s main roads.
Right now, Vista Chino is still closed between Gene Autry and Landau due to flooding over the weekend.
Two levees gave way Sunday sending water rushing into the Whitewater Wash, and flooding several local roadways. Officials now say cleanup is taking longer, as they discovered damage to the roadway. Now, they say the road could be closed through Friday.
All other flooded roads are back open.
Police warn: doNOT drive past the barricades on Vista Chino, please use Ramon Road as your alternate route.
