Drugs And Explosives Found At A Hemet Home

HEMET – Riverside County sheriff’s Deputies on a probation sweep of felons’ homes say they found a bomb, military flares, several guns, ammunition, a pot growing operation and other drugs in the Hemet home of one man.

A report from Hemet police Friday said that officers arrested 36-year-old Zane Hartsfield on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, an explosive device, methamphetamine and marijuana and violating his probation.

The sheriff’s bomb squad dismantled the explosive device, and Hemet police arrived and took custody of Hartsfield.

Deputies reached by phone Saturday night did not know whether Hartsfield had hired an attorney.

Hemet is a desert city of about 58,000 people 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
