Police Arrest 3 Teens, Search For Adult In Attempted Home Invasion

PALM DESERT – Three teenagers, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were arrested Wednesday morning – hours after they allegedly tried to break into a Palm Desert home while the resident was still there.

It happened at 9:30 Tuesday night, according to police. Four people, armed with firearms,tried to get into the residence on Ocotillo Drive, but the resident managed to close the door, preventing them from getting in. They got away.

At 7:00am Wednesday morning, investigators chased three of the suspects in the area of Van Buren and Avenue 49 in Coachella. Two Hispanic juvenile females, ages 14 and 16, were arrested. A 17-year-old Coachella resident was also arrested.

After serving a search warrant on the 84-300 block of Florabunda in Coachella, authorities determined their outstanding suspect is 18-year-old Gabriel Gilbert Zapata. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911.
