Two Men Arrested For Car Theft, Drugs, And Other Charges
DESERT HOT SPRINGS – A police officer with a keen eye netted two men in jail and a stack of stolen property on Tuesday.
Desert Hot Springs Police Officer Paul Tapia was on routine patrol when he came across what he thought were two suspicious people getting into a dark gray Ford Focus. He thought it matched the description of a similar model reported stolen out of Palm Springs.
When he turned to investigate, the two rand from he car into a home on Granada. Tapia called for backup and the house was quickly surrounded. The two suspects were eventually taken into custody.
Inside the house, officers found property belonging to the victims of several other thefts. A stolen purse from Cathedral City, stolen checks from Desert Hot Springs, and a pile up garage door openers were among the items confiscated. The openers, officers say, can be used to break into any garage that shares the same digital key as the opener.
Twenty-one-year-old William Patrick Wilson of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for 2 counts of stolen property, 2 counts of vehicular theft, possession of burglary tools, and a violation of parole. He’s in jail with no bail.
David James Sauce do of Palm Desert was arrested for possession of stolen property, vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of burglary tools. He’s in jail on $5,000 bail.
