United States Postal Service Stops Incoming Packages From Yemen
It could be days even weeks before investigators know if the latest Al Qaeda bomb plot targeting the United States has been fully contained. In the meantime, the people who deliver our mail are on alert.
The U.S. Postal Service has joined FedEx and UPS in stopping all incoming packages coming from Yemen.
This after two U.S. bound packages containing explosive devices sent from Yemen were intercepted on cargo planes in the United Arab Emerites and in England on Friday.
Even before this extra precaution by the postal service, it has always looked for red flags in regard to suspicious packages.
“Normally what we’ll look at: is the package oily? Is it looking like its ripped, wire sticking out? Any kind of foreign substance any kind of smells, then we’ll isolate that and contact our postal inspectors,” said Raymond Rodriguez, Postmaster for Palm Desert.
It is now believed the two devices hidden in printer cartridges were meant to bring down the cargo planes that carried them and not the Chicago synagogues to which they were addressed.
Investigators are looking for a 28 year old Saudi man. They believe the Al Qaeda operative is the bomb maker.
