Firefighters Gain Control Of Palm Grove Fire
Investigators are now working to find out how a large grove of palm trees caught fire on Friday afternoon.
Calls reporting the fire came in shortly after 3:20 p.m. at the Coachella Valley Preserve. At least 75 firefighters battled the flames on the front lines with air support above.
No buildings were ever in any danger.
Saturday, investigators were left with few clues on how the trees actually caught fire.
After a safe level of containment was reached on Friday, the Riverside County Fire Department handed over authority of the investigation to the Bureau of Land Management.
