Cathedral City Residents May Get Break On Prescription Drugs

Residents of Cathedral City may get some relief when it comes to the cost of prescription drugs, with the city’s announcement today of a partnership with the National League of Cities to provide medication discount cards.

The cards offer residents an average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of prescription drugs, according to a city spokeswoman, who said the cards are available to all residents.

They can be used at about 10 pharmacies around the city and are not limited based on a resident’s age, income level or current health coverage. There is no enrollment form required to possess a card and no membership fee.

“Whether or not an individual has prescription coverage, this program can make it easier for our residents to afford the drugs they need to deal with a short-term illness or stay healthy by managing a chronic condition,” according to a city-issued statement.

Cards are available at City Hall, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero; the main fire station, 32100 Desert Vista Road; the Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce, 68950 E. Palm Canyon Drive; and the community center at Tierra del Sol, 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave.

Residents can call (888) 620-1749 for more information about the program.
