Storm Brings Colder Temperatures, Frost Advisory To Coachella Valley

Colder temperatures have settled in across the Coachella Valley with the National Weather Service issuing a frost advisory.

The advisory takes effect starting at 11 p.m. on Thursday and extends to 9 a.m. on Friday.

Growers should be prepared for frost protection. People should cover frost sensitive plants or bring potted plants indoors, according to the NWS.

In the high desert, a freeze warning has been issued from Joshua Tree all the way to Phoenix. It takes effect from 8 p.m. and lasts until 9 a.m. on Friday.

Low temperatures Friday morning will range from 8 to 20 degrees in the mountains, to the lower 20s to near 30 on the lower deserts.

An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes, and destroy or damage crops and other sensitive vegetation.
