Charred Palm Springs Hotel Under Demolition Today

An arson-charred hotel near downtown Palm Springs is being torn down today.

The Clara Bee Lodge at 300 E. Ramon Road was set to be demolished, starting Thursday morning, Palm Springs spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell said. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians are in charge of the job, which may take two or three days.

The demolition of the building has already begun.

“The BIA and the tribe are pleased this process has finally come to fruition and have worked hand and hand to eliminate this blight from our city,” Palm Springs fire Chief Scott Ventura said.

The abandoned building was damaged Aug. 16 by an arson fire.
