Firefighters Leave Mulch Fire To Property Owners

Cal Fire and Riverside County firefighters left the rest of the battle to some Coachella property owners on Thursday after fighting two mulch fires as temperatures topped 100-degrees in spots.

The fires were reported just after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection on Avenue 52 and Airport Road in Coachella.

Crews estimated the two mulch piles were 5-feet tall, five-feet wide and 200-feet long, and both were fully ignited.

Four engine companies were called to the scene.

No one was injured, and firefighters said no structures or property were threatened.
